Usually I just delete them, but this one caught my eye.
"Fwd: NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES"
even a tagline!
"......a woman scorned.... woman scorned indeed.....Anything with 2 cups of butter has to be good.....and quite possibly worth $250"
The backstory:
A woman purchased the Neiman Marcus Chocolate Cookie Recipe after dining at the Cafe, because the waitress had said it cost "two fifty" which she thought was "$2.50" but really was "$250.00."
Neiman Marcus refused to refund, so the lady decided to have $250 worth of fun by passing it along.
NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES (Recipe may be halved)
2 cups butter
24 oz. Chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Salt
2 cups sugar
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. Baking powder
2 tsp. Vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder.
Cream the butter and both sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar, and nuts.
Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Makes 112 cookies.

So I forwarded it on to some people, until my mom replied saying the story has been circulating for 20 years.
HAH!
Zinged in cyberspace by my own mother!!
(Fret not, she had since lost her copy, so it wasn't all unproductive).
