The perks of being carat-free

It seems that everybody I know is engaged.

And being summer, 'tis the season I guess.

Whatever.

I explained the other day to a fellow fabulous single girlfriend that watching my friends get married is like that movie All Quiet on the Western Front where the comrade soldiers are running through the trenches and watching each other get shot down at their side.

To me, watching my friends get married is kind of like that: only it seems like I'm the only one still running.

So they got swept off their feet. Okay, fine. But to me, they're still dead in a sense.

I just absolutely adore this article about things you should do before you get hitched. Call it a marriage 'bucket list' or what have you (there's that whole death theme again...sorry).

So you know what, live it up. Consider yourself lucky and actually, pat yourself on the back that you didn't make a quick, immature or hurried decision to spend the rest of forever with some lame dude or jerk, as I've seen many do.

And if you're in a great marriage, great.

But as for me and my single girl friends, we will carpe diem with stamps in our passports, cool jobs and bed space-hogging.
