1) I'm pretty good at makeup application. A former 25-year Vogue international supermodel in my home church ward even told my mom so.
On myself. Don't have any external experience, less my little sister's senior photos. And I've never had any strong affinities to any one brand.
i.e.
I use MAC eyeshadows, they're fine.
I'm convinced L'Oreal Voluminous mascara is just as good as Dior Show.
Maybelline Great Lash is the most overmarketed crap ever.
The list goes on, but I have never felt any alliegance to any one product UNTIL
THIS eye concealer/base/primer from Laura Mercier. It has CHANGED. MY. LIFE.
No longer does my eye makeup crease (for me and my combination skin, this would happen within 5 minutes...now it lasts ALL DAY. PROMISE.), and it balances out all the purple-y veins. And, don't tell the makeup girl who sold it to me, but it works fabulously as under eye concealer too.
2) These new Converse ads are exciting. One day in NYC this summer as I was getting dressed for the day, I read an InStyle article about Brendan Fraser staying at the Mercer Hotel and being fitted by John Varvatos down the street, and that day I walked by those places on my lunch break.
2a) If I didn't miss NY enough, montages between Gossip Girl segments have renewed my hunger for the one and only lipstick jungle.
2b) Daisy Lowe is Gavin Rossdale's love child. In case you were wondering.
3) Have you discovered MyHeritage.com lately? You can create free celebrity collages, and so far, I've probably myheritage'd half of the newsroom where I currently work. It's great. Our copy chief looks like Cillian Murphy, our editor in chief looks 83 percent like Robert DeNiro, the other metro editor looks like Penelope Cruz, and I look 56 percent like Apolo Anton Ohno.
FUN STUFF.
Last AND most certainly least...
Like we all didn't see this coming.

i know what you mean about the makeup thing. i got some crazy expensive mascara at sephora and it was so disappointing. i'm back to covergirl lash blast and i love it. also, omg, i never understood the hype about eyeshadow primer until i tried it myself! i use one by Too Faced, and it's got a little bit of a shimmer so sometimes i just wear it by itself!
also, i know what you mean about the whole missing the city. i watched bones tonight and pined for DC again. sigh.
sorry this was so long.
